Program 1

Module 1: Verbal and paraverbal communication

Communication and emotional management are crucial elements in the learning process. Teachers must be aware of how to manage emotions and understand classroom interactions to avoid misunderstandings and conflicts. This module addresses communication theories and techniques to improve teaching effectiveness, promoting awareness of different communication styles and flexibility to adjust to students' needs.

Module 2: Neurolinguistic Programming

Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP) is presented as a crucial tool for influencing interpersonal interaction and achieving goals. This approach uses verbal and non-verbal commands to modify behaviors and has applications in teaching Spanish. NLP emphasizes the importance of language, tone of voice and body language in the interpretation and response of students, offering techniques such as anchors and positive associations to motivate and enhance the learning process. Teachers can adapt personalized strategies, improve retention and foster a positive classroom environment through the application of NLP principles.

Module 3: Concept of intercultural competence, Spanish in the world

This course seeks to improve intercultural communication in the ELE classroom by developing students' intercultural competence. It deals with the study of the consequences of culture shock and communication difficulties due to the lack of knowledge of sociocultural aspects. The teacher will learn to deal with cultural misunderstandings and to work with diatopic varieties of Spanish, thus improving the ability to process messages with different pronunciations.

Module 4: Tics and Artificial Intelligence in the classroom

This course seeks to improve intercultural communication in the ELE classroom by developing students' intercultural competence. It deals with the study of the consequences of culture shock and communication difficulties due to the lack of knowledge of sociocultural aspects. The teacher will learn to deal with cultural misunderstandings and to work with diatopic varieties of Spanish, thus improving the ability to process messages with different pronunciations.

Module 5: Integrated CLIL contents and evaluation in the Spanish as a foreign language classroom

This module will address content and language integrated learning (CLIL), internationally known as CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning), as it is an educational approach that promotes the acquisition of a second language in a natural way, integrating it into the academic curriculum. Likewise, we will reflect on the importance of evaluation in the ELE classroom, since it helps teachers to identify the effectiveness of their teaching methods, so that teachers can modify and improve their teaching strategies based on the results obtained.

Program 2

Module 1: Non-verbal, interpersonal and intrapersonal communication.

Nonverbal communication, both interpersonal and intrapersonal, plays a fundamental role in the teaching and learning process. Teachers need to be aware of the nonverbal messages they deliver and how to interpret their students' body language and expressions to facilitate more effective interaction. This module addresses nonverbal communication theories and techniques that help improve mutual understanding in the classroom, fostering awareness of how gestures, postures and facial expressions influence educational dynamics and the emotional well-being of students and teachers.

Module 2: Intercultural encounter and cultural misunderstandings.

This course focuses on the development of intercultural competence in situations of encounter between different cultures, addressing the cultural misunderstandings that can arise. The causes of such misunderstandings, derived from differences in cultural values, norms and behaviors, are explored. The teacher will learn to identify and manage these misunderstandings, favoring a more effective communication between students from different cultural contexts. In addition, reflection on one's own cultural identity and its influence on interaction will be promoted, fostering greater openness and intercultural sensitivity.

Module 3: Stereotypes and topics in the ELE classroom

This course addresses the impact of stereotypes and clichés in ELE teaching, analyzing how these preconceived ideas can influence students' perception and behavior. Strategies are explored to identify and dismantle stereotypes, promoting a more critical and realistic approach to Spanish-speaking cultures. Teachers will learn to foster a more diverse and nuanced view of Hispanic countries, helping them to question common clichés and develop a deeper and more respectful understanding of different cultural realities.

Module 4: Multimedia Resources and Tools for Online Teaching

The incorporation of multimedia resources and online teaching tools transforms ELE teaching, modernizing traditional educational approaches. The use of digital platforms and multimedia applications allows students, digital natives, to learn in a more interactive and dynamic way, adjusting to their preferences for visual and auditory content. These resources not only facilitate communication between teachers and students, but also enrich the learning process by fostering creativity, collaboration and critical thinking, thus enhancing the educational experience in virtual environments.

Module 5: Strategies for stress management and mindfulness in the ELE classroom

This module emphasizes the need to combine practice with theory to achieve effective learning. It seeks to establish a solid connection between emotions and knowledge, promoting positive responses and direct reflections on the students' experience. In addition, it offers the opportunity to connect the emotional and rational dimension in emblematic scenarios of the city, fostering cultural immersion.

Our courses are designed for the professional development of Spanish language teachers around the world.  We will gladly adapt the content of the course to the needs and interests of the participants.

See below some of our past sessions:

The development of critical thinking in the ELE classroom

In accordance with the New Literacy Studies, we will detail to what extent and how students can acquire skills to manage discursive genres, both oral and written as well as the use of multimodal resources, in a critical and reflective manner.

We will analyze what are the best resources and didactic techniques to develop the necessary skills to promote reading and writing into communicative interaction, social participation and personal learning.

Heritage speakers: specific needs in specific contexts

In recent years, countries such as the United States and Canada, and especially in the university environment, have implemented Spanish teaching programs geared to natives of the language. But who are they and what are their needs that may be different from other learners? In this workshop we will detail their identity contexts,

We will discover their educational needs and navigate through the teaching resources that best suit them.

Intercultural competence development course

In an increasingly globalized society in which relationships with people from other cultures are more and more frequent, it is essential to acquire and develop skills to function fluently in these intercultural encounters and achieve mutual understanding for communicative success.

Unfortunately, when we interact with people from another culture, we do not always take into account a whole series of values, beliefs, ways of thinking, feelings and behavior that are present in an intercultural encounter. In these situations in which two ways of perceiving reality collide, communication may even be hindered.

Methodology of teaching Spanish and use of New Technologies

Aimed at teachers of Spanish as a foreign language living outside of Spain.

Participants will have the opportunity to reflect and develop their methodologies and teaching techniques by incorporating the latest technology used here to students who live connected to social networks and technology in general.

Course for teachers of bilingual schools with CLIL/CLIL methodology

The CLIL methodology is characterized by its innovative model where students improve communication skills in other languages, while reinforcing curricular content in other areas.

The aim of the course is for the participating teachers to become familiar with the methodology, learn to apply it and reflect on their role as a teacher in the current educational system.
